First long day down

Today was kinda fun, to be honest, but I'm running on 5 hours of sleep and only one real meal in over 24 hours, so I'm definitely exhausted. Basically, my supervisor picked me up at my hotel in Matsumoto at 8:30 am and drove me to my apartment. I was able to take a quick look around and drop my bags off. We then stopped by the first floor where another new teacher, Brendan, joined us. The day was basically spent driving around and buying things. :P I got a bike (life-saver in Japan), microwave, curtains, futon linen set (no idea how to use it but it was suggested to buy it, lol), and a hair dryer. I thought maybe I could live without one, but I think I will use it a lot, and it wasn't too much money. The reason we spent the day shopping was because the visas for five ALTs (I'm one of them) were delayed and so we couldn't do a bunch of paperwork we were planning to do (such as opening a bank account, getting internet, cell phone, etc.). So, I and the other four ALTs have to go to Nagano (an hour and a half train ride) twice in the next week to finalize our visas. Sigh. Until then, I'm stealing someone's wi-fi. Sorry, whoever you are. XP I hope I can keep doing that anyway... lol. So much new stuff all at once is quite disconcerting. Add in the fact that I feel so unconnected and it's even more overwhelming. :/ I hope I can sleep well tonight and feel much better tomorrow. Anyway, bye for now, and enjoy these few photos of my apartment.

  1. <3<3<3 <~Love being sent your way, Mika-chan! I know all these new things are quite difficult but the experience is well worth it! :-) Also, God is with you where ever you go. He will take very good care of you! I wish I could be there too. I have to wait a little while though. *sigh* Btw, is that your bed in the closet?

  2. Wow! The view looks fanrastic! Wish I was there with you though it's nice that you got to meet other teachers your first day. It does seem really overwhelming, but you seem to be handling it really well! Everything looks so Japanese! Maybe someone can teach you how to use the linen stuff. Ganbate!

  3. Thanks for your kind wishes, you guys! Things should get easier once I am settled in and everything. Yes, that is my bed in the closet. :) I took it out though so I could sleep on it, lol.
